"Spirit of Grays Harbor" is a distinctive short documentary featuring original music that explores the history of Grays Harbor.

Cathryn S Davis is a celebrated film composer with over 20 years of experience in the arts. Her storytelling is marked by a melody-focused style that resonates with listeners. Her passion for composition began in her youth when she composed for her seventh-grade talent show. Over time, she has refined her craft and is now acknowledged for her unique compositions that offer depth and texture.
With a rich background in the arts, Cathryn has explored acting, musical theatre, photography, and film production before returning to her passion for composition later in life. After many years in Los Angeles pursuing acting, singing, and modeling, she worked with Vidal Sassoon and quickly transitioned to a Hawaiian advertising agency producing commercials and a video production company creating short films. Her interest in post-production led her to collaborate with composers, eventually inspiring her to become a film composer.
Cathryn earned her BFA in Music/Theatre from Texas Christian University but didn't study composition until 2016 when she received a scholarship to a specialized contemporary music program in film scoring, composition, orchestration, and songwriting at McNally Smith College of Music in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

From 2023 to 2025, Cathryn served as Composer in Residence for The Grays Harbor Symphony and College in Washington state. Recently, she has achieved several significant accomplishments in her career. In 2017, she composed, edited, and produced the video "Save Our Souls," which premiered at McNally Smith School of Music for solo, choir, children's duet, and orchestra. In 2018, she secured 2nd place in the Rachel Moore Choral Competition with her piece "The Dance of the Fairies." In 2019, Cathryn was one of five composers chosen from a national competition to collaborate with lyricists at the prestigious Nautilus Music Theatre Workshop. Her first film score, "Destined for Collision," was performed by a live orchestra at the Minnesota Kino Film Score Festival. In 2020, she won an orchestral competition, leading to the recording of "II. THE SACRAL CHAKRA" by The Northern Film Orchestra in Manchester, England.
In June, Cathryn premiered a distinctive and entertaining historical film commissioned by the Grays Harbor Symphony and College, which she wrote, directed, produced, and scored. It premiered live with an orchestra and will soon be showcased at film festivals. She is currently working on a musical addressing a common issue among women of all ages, shapes, sizes, races, and colors, along with other commissioned works. She now resides in Olympia, Washington.
