"My Mom's Best Friend," tells the story of a young dancer, Liya, who, worried that pregnancy might impact her dance career, comes to the hospital considering abortion. During the wait for the procedure, she encounters a little girl named Lili, who comes to find her mom. Despite Lili's petite stature, her words are firm as she tells Liya that her mom's friend continues to dance even while pregnant, sparking Liya's curiosity. Guided by Lili, Liya explores an abandoned building where she finally begins to confront the voices within her heart...
Born in Nanchang, China, Xueqing Yin is a film director based in Los Angeles. She holds a BFA in Film and TV Production from Shanghai Normal University (2017) and an MFA in Photography, Video, and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts (2019). Actively engaged in the Sundance Film Festival Screenplay Workshop and Film Independent since 2022, Yin was awarded a diversity program scholarship from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles and served as a judge at the Grand Rapid Film Festival in 2023.
